The King's School in Macclesfield

Netball is a major sport at King’s predominantly in the Spring Term with training, preparation, some league fixtures, Sisters n Sport and the Independent Schools’ Netball Cup taking place in the Autumn Term. We offer extra-curricular practices for all age groups and abilities and have a competitive fixtures list for Wednesday (Seniors) and Saturday games (all other year groups). We regularly enter Cheshire County and National School competitions for every age group as well as competing in invitational tournaments.

Highly qualified coaches and specialist PE staff are committed to ensuring all girls are given the opportunity to play netball as a key curriculum subject especially in Years 7 - 9 where it is taught to everyone in Games lessons.

Individual success is important to us too and talented individuals are given the opportunity to play with older girls to encourage their personal development. We have a cohort of girls that have successfully trialled for County squads, Super League teams and regional level.

King’s boasts eight full size netball courts enabling several teams to train at the same time and to allow for multiples of teams to play in our regular Saturday and midweek fixtures.

We regularly embark on overseas tours to enrich the sporting experiences of pupils. In July 2018, we took 25 Year 9 -11 girls to South Africa, which provided the girls with a brilliant opportunity to play netball at a high level and to experience the wealth of culture that South Africa has to offer. In preparation for this tour, pupils underwent a strength and conditioning programme alongside additional strategic training in preparation for the high quality of netball in South Africa.
